I see the current vulnerable state of our everyday landscape; so altered and abused, and feel an urgency to improve it with tenderness, to learn from it, and to encourage others to do the same. I am fascinated with the landscapes around me; finding extraordinary beauty in the seemingly mundane.  My art an is aid to better understand the land we live on. My artwork uses landscapes as a subject and tool to encompass the relationship that connects the viewers to each other and the environment. The works I create represent the strange dichotomy we have with our home on earth. We need it, love it, and depend on it, yet continue to abuse, alter, and classify it. By representing the land through a passage of time, we can learn from our mistakes and its submissive qualities. I believe we were given the responsibility and gift of stewardship to take care of the land in a symbiotic relationship. Our optimal quality of life cannot be realized in this present world, but only in the new world Jesus will create, when all nations and species are brought to perfect submission and holiness. Therefore, I represent the land as it is and has been while pairing it with the hope of what is to come-our ultimate, new, and perfect home.
